WOONSOCKET- Gerald "Jerry" Callei, 67, of Woonsocket, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, June 5, 2013 with family by his side. He was the beloved husband, together for 47 years, of Shelia A. (Lafontaine) Callei.
Born in Providence on January 24, 1946, he was the son of the late Louis and Nita (Levy) Callei.
He was the loving father of Sherry Suraine and her husband, Timothy of Woonsocket and his cherished grandchildren, Edmond, Matthew and Alex Lefrancois and great-grandchildren, Alexis and Dante Lefrancois. He was the brother of Roger Callei and his wife, Lorraine of Woonsocket, Kenneth Callei and his wife, Catherine of No. Smithfield, Esther Jordan of Raleigh, NC and the late Louis Callei, Jr. He also leaves his mother in law Pauline (Sylvestre) Paulette of Woonsocket. And his beloved dog "Rexanne".
A longtime resident of Woonsocket formerly of Cumberland, Jerry was an auto body technician at Plante's Auto Body in Woonsocket for many years. His hobbies included painting cars, tonka toys and trucks, enjoyed camping, playing cards and horseshoes which he received many trophies. Devoted to his family, he will be greatly missed.
Funeral will be held on Monday, June 10th at 9:00AM from CARTIER'S FUNERAL HOME, 151 So. Main St. (Rte 126), Bellingham, MA with a Funeral Mass at 10:00AM at St. Michael's Ukrainian Catholic Church, 394 Blackstone St., Woonsocket, RI. Burial will follow in the family lot at the Acote's Hill Cemetery, Chepachet, RI. Visiting hours are on Sunday at the funeral home from 5 to 8PM with a Panakhyda Service at 7:30PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
