WOONSOCKET- Roger L. Lambert, 92, of Woonsocket, died Tuesday, June 11, 2013 in Oakland Grove Health Care Center. He was the husband of the late Frances A. (Mannigan) Lambert, whom he married in September 29, 1945.
Born in Woonsocket, RI, he was the son of the late Adelard and Grazuela (Fontaine) Lambert.
Roger began his employment working with his father as a mason and later worked for Hasbro and the former U.S. Rubber (Uniroyal). He was enrolled as a member of the Civilian Conservation Corps at 17 years old and was honorably discharged on April 14, 1938. Roger served his country during WWII as a paratrooper with 82nd Airborne. He also served in Italy and Africa and was honorably discharged on July 30, 1945. He was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church.
He leaves his sister, Lucy Marande of Pascoag; many nephews and nieces, including Leo and Bruce Lapierre and his caregivers and best friends, Lorraine L. Robin and Marguerite H. Robin. He was predeceased by his siblings, Roland and Adelard Lambert and Loretta Debasco.
His funeral, beginning with visitation will be held Saturday, June 15, 2013 at 8:45 AM from the Holt Funeral Home, 510 So. Main St., with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM in St. Joseph's Church, 1200 Mendon Rd. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Beacon Hospice, 860A Waterman Ave., East Providence, RI 02914 or to the Disabled American Veterans, P.O. Box 14301 Cincinnati, OH 45250, Attn: Gift Processing.
