SLATERSVILLE- Raymond E. Lemire, 93, of Slatersville, died June 23, 2013 at The Friendly Home in Woonsocket. He was the husband of the late Olida (Souza) Lemire.
Born in Harrisville, he was the son of the late Albert and Donalda (Cabana) Lemire.
Raymond worked twelve years as a Tool and Dye maker for United Tool Co. Millbury, MA before retiring in 1983. He was previously employed at MIL-LOR Engineering Co. in Millville, MA; He served in the United States Navy during World War II. He was member of the former Holy Name Society; was active in the Boy Scouts of America, Knights of Columbus-Freehill Council, Stephen Molay 4th Degree. Raymond enjoyed woodworking as a hobby for many years.
He is survived by his daughter, Deborah Sweeney of Stamford, CT; two brothers Edmund Lemire, of NJ; and H. Jim Lemire of No. Smithfield; and his sister Rita Thibeault of Blackstone. He was predeceased by his five brothers, Francis, Louis, Joseph, Fred and Harold Lemire; and his two sisters Celia Gaboury and Viola Bourassa.
His funeral, beginning with visitation will be held Friday, June 28, 2013 at 9:30 AM in the Holt Funeral Home, 510 So. Main St., Woonsocket followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11AM in St. John the Evangelist Church, 63 Church St. Slatersville. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Friendly Home Patients Activities Fund, 303 Rhodes Ave., Woonsocket, RI 02895.
