Richard R. Pendleton, Sr.

BURRILLVILLE- Pendleton, Richard R. Sr., 62, resident of Mapleville, RI, passed away on June 23, 2013 at his home surrounded by his family, after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was the husband of the late JoAnn (Ray) Pendleton.
He was born in Framingham, MA, son of the late Delores Glassey.
Richard worked as a truck driver for Thomasville Furniture Co., and Garelick Farms. He served in the US Army Air Force and in the Airborne Special Forces of the Green Berets during the Vietnam War. He previously lived in Glocester and Pawtucket. He was an avid motorcyclist who supported many of their charities.
He is survived by his daughters, Lisa Pendleton of Harrisville, and Tammy Pendleton-Ward of No. Smithfield, a son, Richard Pendleton Jr. of Harrisville, 8 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter, his companion, Suzanne Benoit with whom he lived, a brother, Arthur Dramby, and sisters, Donna Gomes, Sandra Gingell, Robin Richardson, and Stacia Dramby. He is also survived by his stepfather, Ski Boyanowski.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Joane Reis and Diane Bertenshaw.
A funeral service will be held Saturday at 11am in the Keene-Brown Funeral Home, 445 Greenville Rd., North Smithfield, RI. Burial, with military honors, will follow in St. Theresa's Cemetery in Nasonville. Calling hours will be held Friday from 2-4pm and 6-8pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the RI Chapter of the American Cancer Society.
