BURRILLVILLE- Albert J. Houle, 89, of Mapleville, RI, passed away June 30, 2013, at the Overlook Nursing Home, Pascoag, surrounded by his loving family.
He was the loving husband of 58 years to Irene (Meinville) Houle.
He was born in Woonsocket RI, son of the late Herve & Opalma (Fontaine) Houle.
He worked for Harding & Smith Construction Company in Walpole, MA, formerly Bonfatti Construction, for many years. Before that he worked for Wrights Farm Restaurant in Nasonville. He lived in Mapleville for 48 years. He was a WWII army combat veteran, serving as a member of the 82nd Airborne. He was a former member of the Townsmen's Club in Mapleville and the Woonsocket Elks Lodge #850.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his children, Paul Houle of Mapleville, and Renee Houle of Waterford, CT, his cousins, Art & Jo-Ann Lavallee, who helped the family take care of Albert, sisters, Therese Bell-Chartier, and Lillian Lavoie, and a brother, Roger Houle and his wife Eileen. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his siblings, Parmelia Houle, Florence Boisvert, Lionel, Yvonne, Rene, Alfred, Robert Houle and Loretta Plante.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday at 11am in St. Theresa's Church, 35 Dion Drive, Nasonville, RI. Burial will follow in the parish Cemetery. Calling hours are omitted. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Best Friends Animal Society, 5001 Angel Canyon Rd, Kanab, UT 84741, or to St, Theresa's Church. Arrangements are entrusted to the Brown Funeral Home 1496 Victory Hwy., Oakland RI.
