FRANKLIN — As part of the town’s Fourth of July observance, the annual Children’s Day celebration will be held today.
The Fourth of July festival, which kicked off on Wednesday, July 3 and will run through Sunday, July 7, features food stalls and amusements opening at 11 a.m. today with events throughout the day and evening.
The Children’s Parade will step off at noon. Vic and Sticks (family entertainment) runs from 1-2 p.m., followed by a performance by Flippo the Clown.
The fun continues with the much-anticipated 6th annual Franklin Idol Contest from 4-7 p.m. in which 30 contestants show off their musical talent.
The contestants will perform in front of three judges and the audience. Judges will narrow the talent pool to five. The five finalists will then perform and the audience will vote.
Winners will be announced on Sunday at 5 p.m.
Sign up information for the Franklin Idol Contest can be found at the Franklin Town website.
The festivities continue tonight at 7 p.m. when the Groove Doctors Band takes the stage.
