BMR taps Davis as interim schools chief

July 14, 2013

BLACKSTONE – The Blackstone/Millville Regional District School Committee has named Perry Davis as interim superintendent of schools while the search continues for a permanent replacement for Kimberly Shaver-Hood.
Shaver-Hood resigned her post to take on the superintendent position with Wareham Public Schools.
Under the process developed by the District School Committee to fill Shaver-Hood’s post, the interim superintendent will serve during the 2013-2014 school year.
As part of the process for filling that role, the district reviewed several candidates and selected Davis, who has served as superintendent in the Dover/Sherborn Regional School District and also for King Philip Regional. Davis, who is currently providing consulting services through Teachers 21, will take on his local duties on Aug. 21.
The Regional District School Committee also announced that it named Kristen Esposito-Balboni as assistant superintendent for the District. She will be working with Davis when he arrives in August.
Esposito-Balboni is coming to the regional district from Brookline Public Schools where she has served as the assistant superintendent for student services.
The regional committee is continuing to review the leadership requirements for the District and plans to continue work on the selection of a new superintendent during the coming school year.
“The development of new initiatives including alignment of our curriculum to the Massachusetts Common Core standards, literacy programs and the continuing evaluation of personnel demonstrates that the BMR District is poised to move forward in our goal of raising the level of expectations of all stakeholders,’’ the committee stated in its announcement of the new administrative appointments. “We are very excited to welcome Dr. Davis and Dr. Esposito-Balboni to the BMR leadership team, and look forward to their enthusiasm and vision to lead this district forward.”
