NORTH SMITHFIELD- Shirley (Nelson) Martin, 86, of No. Smithfield, died July 9, 2013 in Hebert Nursing Home, Smithfield. She was the wife of the late Edward A. Martin. Born in North Smithfield, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Minnie (Follett) Nelson.
Shirley was a supervisor for Amprex for 25 years. She was a member of the Smithfield Quaker Meeting House of Friends in North Smithfield.
She leaves two sons, Richard E. Martin and his wife Diane and Wayne A. Martin and his wife Diane, all of No. Smithfield; her half sister, June Payne of Woonsocket; seven grandchildren; and six great grandchildren. She was predeceased by three children, Karen Hopkins and Ann and David Martin.
Her funeral beginning with visitation at 9 AM will be held Friday, July 19, 2013 with a service at 10 AM in the Holt Funeral Home, 510 So. Main St., Woonsocket. Burial will follow in St. John the Evangelist Cemetery, Slatersville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the RI School for the Deaf, 1 Corliss Park, Providence, RI 02908.
