PITTSFORD, NY- Robert Kirrane Murph, 74 died peacefully at his home in Pittsford, NY on July 4, 2013 after a brief illness. He was the loving husband of Edith D. Murphy.
Bob was born in Woonsocket, RI, the youngest son of Martha (Kirby) and Raymond F. Murphy.
He was a graduate of Mount Saint Charles Academy where he was a star hockey player and "Mountie of the Year".
Bob spent most of his career as a sale executive in the optical industry. He moved to Rochester, NY in 1976 to work for Bausch & Lomb. He was a member of the Country Club of Rochester. While traveling as a salesman for Polaroid, he once met Red Sox great Ted Williams on a plane, gave him free sunglasses and was invited by the grateful Williams to come fishing with him in Florida.
Bob was a sweet, generous and loving man. He was a great companion, a hilarious mimic and sports enthusiast with a special devotion to the Boston Bruins. He loved Woonsocket's Deslauriers Bakery and Ye Olde English fish & Chips.
Bob also is survived by his wife's daughters Edie, Meg, Sarah and Ann, by his son Timothy J. Swissler and daughter Michaela Radziszewski, by his brother Raymond F. Murphy, Jr. and his wife Pamelee of Providence and seven nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his brother William K. Murphy.
At his request a private family service will be held. Memorial contributions may be made to the Robert K. Murphy Scholarship Fund, Mount Saint Charles Academy, 800 Logee Street, Woonsocket, RI 02895
