NIVERVILLE, NY- Andrew A. Kennedy, Jr., 76, of Niverville, NY died Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at his home.
Born October 19, 1936 in Woonsocket, RI, he was the son of the late Andrew A. and Helen (O'Gara) Kennedy Sr.
Mr. Kennedy was a Veteran in the US Navel Reserves. He worked for most of his life as a Colorist & Chemist for Surpass Chemical, Sybron Chemical, Woonsocket Color and Chemical Co. and most recently, Harrison and Son's in Rhode Island. He was a former Kinderhook Town Councilman for 8 years and a Past President of the Niverville Fire Department. He was a Communicant of St. John the Baptist Church in Valatie and a 4th Degree Knight and member of the John J. Curran Council Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of the John W. McConnell American Legion Post #47. Andrew was a diehard New England Patriots fan and his passion in life was his 1973 Corvette flag car that he proudly drove in many parades including the St. Patrick's Day Parade in Albany, the Flag Day parades in Rensselaer and Hudson and the Memorial Day Parade in Kinderhook.
He is survived by his wife: Maureen E. (Mazzarella) Kennedy, a daughter, Carleen Kennedy of Ravena, NY, a son: Andrew M. Kennedy of Valatie, NY, 5 grandchildren, Victoria and Jason Smith, Andrew, Olivia and Zachary Kennedy, 1 great grandson, Ian Smith and several Nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by 2 sisters, Margaret Shiel and Frances Eagan, and 2 brothers, Robert and Charles Kennedy.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held 11:00 am on Monday at St. John The Baptist Church, Route 9, Valatie. Burial will follow in St. Johns Cemetery. Calling hours will be Sunday, from 2-4 and 7-9pm at the Raymond E. Bond Funeral Home, 1015 Kinderhook St., Valatie.
