Gerald W. "Gerry" Fournier Sr.

BURRILLVILLE- Gerald W. "Gerry" Fournier Sr., 85, died Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at home. He was the husband of the late Beverly E. (Gingell) Fournier.
Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Grant Sr. and Loretta Fournier. He lived in Harrisville most of his life.
Gerry was employed as a route salesman for A.B. Munroe Dairy for 18 years. He was then employed by the Town of Burrillville Highway Department before retiring in 1990. He was a Communicant of St. Patrick's Church, Harrisville. Gerry was a member of the Harrisville Fire Dept. for 52 years, serving as a lieutenant, chief engineer and department president and was a member of the Burrillville Town Council, serving 2 years as president. Gerry was a Burrillville Police Commissioner and was also chairman of the Burrillville Housing Authority. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 383 and co-founder of Between the Cracks. He served in the U.S. Army from 1944 to 1947.
Gerry is survived by three sons, Gerald Fournier Jr. and Bruce Fournier, both of Harrisville and Brian Fournier of Smithfield, four daughters, Donna Houle and Denise Stone, both of Pascoag, Debra Winsor of Smithfield and Doreen Guittan of Auburn, MA, one brother Clarence Fournier of Bellingham, three sisters, Gert Thompson, Jean Gaucher and Simone Ramieglio, all of Harrisville, fourteen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Grant Fournier Sr., Francis "Pee-Wee" Fournier, Lucille Brown and Pauline Merchant.
His funeral will be held Friday, July 19, 2013 at 9 AM from the Boucher Funeral Home, 272 Sayles Ave, Pascoag with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in St. Patrick's Church, Main St., Harrisville. Burial will follow in the Parish Cemetery. Calling hours will be Thursday from 4 to 8 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his name may be made to Between the Cracks, PO Box 468, Harrisville, RI 02830.
