LADY LAKE, FLORIDA- Ronald (Ron) Ouellette, 70, of Florida, formerly of Woonsocket passed away on June 6, 2013, at The Villages Hospital.
Ron was born on Jan 18, 1943 in Woonsocket. He was the son of the late Aldeo (Leo) and Florence (Hantis) Ouellette also of Woonsocket. Ron graduated from Mount St. Charles in 1961.
A Vietnam Navy veteran, Ron was the first Woonsocket resident to receive a Purple Heart. Upon his discharge from the Navy, Ron worked at WWON and WNRI during the 70's and 80's. Ron was an active community member, ran for city council and worked on city and state political campaigns. He helped establish the Woonsocket Auxiliary Police. He joined the VA Police Dept in 1991 and later retired to Florida. Ron is survived by a daughter, son, daughter-in-law and three grandsons. He is also survived by his companion of many years, Rosemary Hareld.
There will be a brief memorial service on Fri, July 26th at 11:00 at St. Jean the Baptist Cemetery, Bellingham, MA.
