CUMBERLAND- Sylvia B. Forte, 80, passed away Thursday in the Miriam Hospital. She was the beloved wife of Antonio A. Forte. The had been married for the past 60 years.
Born in Woonsocket she was the daughter of the late Russell W. and Beatrice (Caron) Champagne. She resided in Cumberland for the past 54 years.
She was employed by the former Drolet Hardware Co., Pawtucket for 13 years retiring in 1995.
She was a communicant of the Historic St. Joseph Church Cumberland and a member of The Daughters of Isabella. Mrs. Forte was a former advisor for the United C.Y.O. and member of the Board of Directors for the Blackstone Valley Shelter for Abused Children.
Besides her husband she leaves four children, Joanne Toppa and husband Robert of Cranston; Mary Lynne Miller and husband Thomas and David Forte both of Cumberland and Antonio Forte and wife Celine of Smithfield. Also surviving are a sister Theresa Champagne of Cumberland and 8 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
Celebration of her life will be held Monday with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Historic St. Joseph Church, Mendon Rd., Cumberland. Burial will be private.
