PARIS, FRANCE Alfred Albert Beauchemin, 81, died July 24, 2013 in the Netherlands as the result of the aftereffects of being hit for no reason in the back of the head in Sacramento, CA 2007 while taking a walk in the evening. The culprit was never found.
He was born on September 19, 1931 in Woonsocket, RI and grew up there with his nine brothers and sisters. He was the son of the late Henri and Laura Beauchemin of Woonsocket, RI. His survivors include his wife Jacqueline Beauchemin of Paris, France and their sons: Eric Beauchemin of Hilversum, The Netherlands; Marc Beauchemin of Las Cruces, NM; and Patrick Beauchemin of Walnut Creek, CA. He leaves five surviving brothers and sisters: Lucien Beauchemin of Redondo Beach, CA; Alice Boucher of Anaheim, CA; Aldor Beauchemin of Cumberland, RI, Andre Beauchemin of Attleboro, MA; and Annee Shirley of Woonsocket, RI.
He was a special education teacher in Cupertino, California for 20 years. Prior to that, he lived and worked in several countries in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Prior to the attack, he was an avid skier and world traveler. He loved politics and was an inveterate news junkie. His true passions were classical music and cycling. For his entire teaching career he commuted to work 15 miles round trip by bicycle, rain or shine. His greatest pleasure was cycling around France during the summers.
