WOONSOCKET - Omer J. Durand, 84, of Woonsocket, passed away on Tuesday, July 30, 2013 at Saint Antoine Residence. He was the beloved husband of the late Irene (Willerval) Durand. Born in Woonsocket on November 29, 1927, he was the son of the late Philippe and Anna (Durand) Durand.
He was the loving father of Denise Marvelle and her husband, Roger of Blackstone, MA, Suzanne Peripoli and her husband, Dave of Woonsocket, RI, and Simonne Harrison and her husband, Ronald of North Smithfield, RI; and leaves his two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Lionel Durand. He also leaves his dear friend, Irene Capparella of Lincoln, RI.
A lifelong resident of Woonsocket, Mr. Durand owned and operated Jet-O-Matic Car wash for many years. He was active with the YMCA and enjoyed dancing. Devoted to his family, he will be greatly missed.
Funeral will be held on Monday, August 5th at 8:30AM from CARTIER'S FUNERAL HOME, 151 So. Main St. (Rte 126), Bellingham, MA with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30AM at St. Joseph's Church, 1200 Mendon Rd. Woonsocket. Interment will follow at St. Jean Baptiste Cemetery, Bellingham. Visiting time from 8:30 to 10:00AM at the funeral home prior to Mass.
