WOONSOCKET- Kathleen E. (Hand) Ackley, 56, of Woonsocket, passed away on Thursday, August 1, 2013 after being stricken at work. She was the beloved wife for 13 years and together for 30 wonderful years of Alan R. Ackley.
Born in Woonsocket on July 20, 1957, she was the daughter of Edythe (Paine) Hand of Bellingham and the late Lawrence R. Hand.
She was the loving sister of Timothy Hand and his wife, Joyce of Pascoag, RI, Brian Hand and his wife, Donna of Mapleville, RI, Thomas Hand and his wife, Ellen of East Douglas, MA, and Judith Williams and her husband, Roger of Macclenny, FL, and the late Robert Hand and his late wife, Jeannine. She also leaves her father and mother in-law, Richard and Jeannette Ackley of Woonsocket; and her aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A resident of Woonsocket formerly of Bellingham, Kathie was a graduate of Bellingham High School Class of 1975. She worked as a supervisor at Sports Systems Corporation of Woonsocket for 30 years and previously worked at Fashion Sports Ware and Omni Sports Ware. Together with her husband Alan, they operated AOK Crafts and Pre-Paid Legal.
Kathie enjoyed going to bazaars, making crafts, gardening and was an avid Bruins and Patriots fan. She was a communicant of Assumption Church and St. Blaise Church. She loved life, being with family and friends and will be greatly missed.
Funeral will be held on Tuesday, August 6th at 8:00AM from CARTIERS FUNERAL HOME, 151 So. Main St. (Rte 126), Bellingham, MA with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00AM at St. Blaise Church, 1158 So. Main St., Bellingham. Interment will follow at St. Charles Cemetery, Blackstone. Visiting hours are on Monday, August 5th from 5 to 8PM at the funeral home.
