WOONSOCKET- Clement Blanchard, 90, of Woonsocket passed away Wednesday, July 31, 2013. He was the husband of the late Pauline (Belanger) Blanchard.
Born in Canada, he was the son of the late Adolphe and Florida (Cloutier) Blanchard. Mr. Blanchard was army veteran of World War II, He was a Sergeant in the 359 infantry, 90th division, participating in the Normandy invasion. He was the recipient of two Purple Hearts and various other medals.
He is survived by two daughters, Carol Godfrin and Gail Dion, five grandchildren, Stephen and Kevin Dion, Lisa, Michael, and Carl Godfrin, six great grandchildren, and one great great grandson. He was one of nine children.
His funeral will be held Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at 9am from the ONeill Funeral Home, 3102 Mendon Road, Cumberland, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30am in Saint Joseph Church, Mendon Road, Woonsocket. Burial with military honors will be in Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. Relatives and friends are invited. Visitation Wednesday 9-10, prior to the mass in the funeral home.
