LINCOLN- Virginia (Babiana) Gingras Baker, 76, of Lincoln, died August 4, 2013 in her home. She was the wife of the late DeForest L. Baker, Lt. Commander retired, US Navy, who died in 2010 and Paul A. Gingras who died in 1987.
She was the daughter to the late George and Mary (Andry) Babiana.
Virginia was a 1954 graduate of Woonsocket High School. She was a legal assistant for Hasbro, Inc., retiring in 2004. Virginia previously worked for Valley Gas Co. in Cumberland, RI and HB Group in North Smithfield, RI. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Romanian Orthodox Church, Woonsocket, its Ladies Auxiliary and its choir for many years. Virginia was also a member of the Romanian Benevolent Association "Society Farsarotul."
Virginia leaves three sisters, Victoria Chiacu and Stella Babiana, both of Woonsocket and Florence Costulas of Fairfield, CT; two brothers, her twin, James Babiana, of South Bellingham, MA, and Andrew Babiana of Lincoln; her nieces Debra Chiacu of Woonsocket, Christine Chiacu-Forsythe of North Smithfield, Karen Recco of South Natick, MA, and several other nieces and nephews; and her step-children, Stephen Baker of Newport, Wayne Baker, of Valparaiso, FL, Roger Gingras of Sutton, MA and Denise Blais of Lincoln, and their families. She was predeceased by her sister, Silvia Fatse of Easton, CT.
Her funeral will be held Friday, August 9, 2013 beginning with visitation at 9AM from the Holt Funeral Home, 510 So. Main St., Woonsocket, followed by a service at 11:30AM in St. John the Baptist Orthodox Romanian Church, 501 East School St., Woonsocket. Burial will follow in the family lot in the church cemetery. Flowers may be sent or donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.
