Block party will rock

WOONSOCKET – Organizers of the biggest block party on the East Coast have announced the entertainment lineup for a dozen stages that will stretch for a half-mile through downtown.
It’s all part of the city’s 125th anniversary celebration scheduled for Aug. 29, spearheaded by Mayor Leo T. Fontaine and a dedicated band of volunteers. The Call is the designated media partner for the event.
Stage 1, at 2 Main St., will feature the Meadowlarks, a big band group with a dozen members.
Stage 2, 20 Main St. will feature country music with a band to be announced.
Stage 3, 60 Main St., Rough N Ready, specializing in 70s hits.
Stage 4, 90 Main St., Kings Row, oldies.
Stage 5, 170 Main St., Rising Stars and the New Force Steppers.
Stage 6, Longley parking lot, opposite City Hall, Northeast Groove/Steve Malec & Electric Mood.
Stage 7, Train Station, 210 Main St; traditional French music, band to be announced.
Stage 8, Chan’s, 267 Main St., Nite Flies.
Stage 9, 280 Main and Cato streets, Berkeley School of Boston Jazz Band
Stage 10, 320 Main St., Berkeley School of Boston Rhythm & Blues Band
Stage 11 Federal and Main streets, Stage of the Arts (10 different acts)
Stage 12, 28 Monument Square/335 Main St., James Montgomery Blues Band/Uptown Horns
