WOONSOCKET- Maurice O. "Moe" Rondeau, 74, of East Woonsocket, died Saturday, August 10, 2013, at the Philip Hulitar Inpatient Center, Providence. He was the husband of Jeannine C. (Deziel) Rondeau, whom he married on May 28, 1960.
Born in Woonsocket, he was the son of Gertrude (Mandeville) Rondeau of Woonsocket and the late Edmond Rondeau.
Moe was a 1955 graduate of Mt. St. Charles Academy. He served in the Army National Guard. Moe was the owner of Travel Advisors International (Travel Leaders Franchise) for 27 years and was a meat manager prior to working in the travel industry. He was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church. He was a lifetime member of the 4th degree Knights of Columbus, a lifetime member of Circle Laurier, a member of Woonsocket BPOE Elks #850, a member of the NRI Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Butchers Union of America, and a member of the Putnam CT Chamber of Commerce. He was on the Board of Directors of the Blackstone Valley Tourism Council, was an advocate of Buy Local, was a past President of the Woonsocket North Stars youth hockey program, a past President of the Brookhaven Condo Association, and was affiliated with the United Cadets of America.
Moe enjoyed working in the travel industry and vacationing with old and new friends.
Moe is survived by his wife Jeannine and his mother Gertrude, his daughter Jocelyn Champagne and her husband Robert of Pascoag, his son Marc Rondeau and his wife Kimberley of Oakland, and his son Daniel Rondeau and his wife Christine of Lithia, FL. He is also survived by his seven grandchildren, Courtney, Katherin, Blake, Brooke, Darren, Jarred and Faith.
His funeral will be held Saturday, August 17 with a Mass of Christian burial at 10:30 AM at St. Joseph's Church, 1200 Mendon Rd. His burial will be private. Calling hours are Friday from 4-8 PM at the Holt Funeral Home, 510 So. Main St. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701 or to Home and Hospice Care of RI, 1085 No. Main St., Providence, RI 02904.
