WOONSOCKET- Sherman Williams Jr. 63, of Transit St., died Saturday September 21, 2013 in the Phillip Hulitar Inpatient Center with his family by his side. He was the husband of Evelyn (Jette) Williams.
Born in Baltimore, Maryland, son of the late Sherman and Goldie Lee (Fergerson) Williams Sr.
He worked on the assembly line at General Motors for 34 years and also as a certified welder and truck mechanic for Atlas Pallet prior to retiring.
He was a United States Army Veteran.
He also was a member of the Amvets Fairmount Post 85.
Besides his wife Evelyn he is survived by six stepchildren, Debbie Grenon of Florida, Sharon and her husband John O'Hearn of Woonsocket, Sherrie and her companion Ken Mann of Johnston, Darlene and her husband Bob Boisvert of Tennessee, Daniel and his wife Ellen Rasmusson of Brooklyn, Conn., and Cindy Ramusson of Cumberland. One brother Ralph Williams of Baltimore, Maryland, three sisters Joanne Scheler, Betty Utz and Irene Chaney all of Baltimore, Maryland and eight step grandchildren and three step great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He also was the brother of the late Christine Takuoki.
A Funeral Home Service will be held on Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at 5:30 P.M. in the S. DiPardo Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 1583 Diamond Hill Rd., Woonsocket, R.I. Relatives and friends are invited; calling hours are from 4-6 P.M. In lieu of flowers donations to the Phillip Hulitar Inpatient Center, 1085 North Main St., Providence R.I. 02904 in his memory would be appreciated.
