WOONSOCKET- Roland E. Chamberland, 88, of 400 Mendon Rd., died Tuesday, November 2, 2010 in St. Antoine Residence, No. Smithfield. He was the husband of Doris A. (Brunetti) Chamberland whom he married May 11, 1946.
Born in Woonsocket, he was the son of the late Fabien and Alexina (Bourque) Chamberland.
He worked twenty five years as a Baker for the former Leo's Bakery, Woonsocket. After its closure, Roland worked at Wrentham State School, retiring in 1983. A WWII Army Veteran, he served in the 88th Infantry Division (Blue Devils). He was a member of Leclair, Koslik, Logan and Bassett VFW #6342, Forestdale and was an avid golfer and member of the former Winnesuket Country Club.
Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Roland R. Chamberland and his wife Collette of Napa, CA and David C. Chamberland and his wife Lu-Ann of No. Smithfield, a sister, Alice Poisson of Rocky Hill, CT, six grandchildren, Cristie and Scott Chamberland, Dena Chiappulini, Jill Duffy and Kevin and Eric Chamberland and five great grandchildren. He was the father of the late Dennis G. Chamberland and brother of the late Edgar, Edward, Ovela and Irene Chamberland, Anita Caplette, Blanche Choinere, Doris Dextrage, Rita Garand and Jeannette Lomberto.
His funeral will be held Friday, November 5, 2010, with visitation, from 9 to 10:30AM in the Holt Funeral Home, 510 So. Main St., Woonsocket with A Mass of Christian Burial at 11AM in the St. Antoine Residence Chapel, 10 Rhodes Ave., No. Smithfield. Burial. with military honors, will follow in St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Bellingham, MA. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Antoine Residence, Activity Fund, 10 Rhodes Ave., No. Smithfield.
