CUMBERLAND- Lucien R. Chartier Sr., 74, of Cumberland, passed away Monday, September 30, 2013 at home while surrounded by his loving family.
He is survived by his adoring wife of 54 years, Helene (Goethals) Chartier.
Born and raised in Woonsocket, he was the son of the late Andrew and RoseAlma (Allard) Chartier.
He lived most of his life in Woonsocket before moving to Cumberland 14 years ago. Lucien worked at Health-Tex for 27 years and later worked at Texas Instruments until his retirement. Lucien enjoyed delivering papers for The Valley Breeze. He enjoyed camping with his family, playing horse shoes and pool in his leisure time.
In addition to his wife, he leaves his five children and their spouses, Renee and Walter Casto, Audrey and Lionel J. Boisvert, Lisa and Kevin Corbett, Lucien and Jackie (Aubin) Chartier Jr., and Daniel and Nikki (Tellstone) Chartier, a sister, Irene Dowd, 13 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Leo, Rene, and Roger Chartier.
The funeral will be held Friday, October 4, 2013 at 9am from the O'NEILL Funeral Home, 3102 Mendon Road, Cumberland, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in Saint James Church, Division Street, Manville. Burial will be private. Visiting hours Thursday 4-8pm in the funeral home. www.rifuneral.com
