UXBRIDGE- Reynold B. "Renny", "Corky" Cochrane, Sr., 90 of Uxbridge passed away Mon. October 7, 2013 at his residence. He was the husband of Ardell M. (Wilson) Cochrane.
Corky was employed at the former Whitin Machine Works in Whitinsville, Schnorr Construction Co. in Uxbridge, Helen's Transportation in Uxbridge, and in the 1960's he was the owner of "Corky's" Texaco in Uxbridge. He retired in 1985 after more than 17 years as a heavy equipment operator for the former Rosenfeld Concrete Co. of Hopedale.
He was born July 5, 1923 in Linwood the son of the late William J. and Annie (Bradbury) Crochrane and attended Blackstone schools.
Renny was a lifetime member of the VFW in Uxbridge and a member of the teamsters local #170 of Worcester. He was an avid boater and was Honorary Mayor of Hog Island, RI.
Mr. Cochrane served during WW II as a Marine and Merchant Marine. He spent 26 months of service in the South Pacific Theatre. Renny took part in 5 major battles in the South Pacific and received the Presidential Citation for Service at New Rendova.
Renny and Ardell celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary this past year.
In addition to his wife, Ardell, he is survived by two sons; Daniel M. Cochrane of Douglas and Reynold B. "Corky" Cochrane Jr. and his wife Colleen of Quinebaug, CT; one daughter, Jane A. and her husband Randi W. Nuttall, Sr. of Mendon; one sister, Rachel Poulson of Utah, eight grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Robert Cochrane, his sister, Ruthy Antonelli; his son William J. Cochrane and a grandson, Randi W. "R.W." Nuttall, Jr.
Calling hours will be Friday, October 18, 2013 from 9-11 AM in the BUMA FUNERAL HOME, 101 N. Main St., Uxbridge prior to the funeral service at 11AM in the funeral home.
Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Granite St., Uxbridge.
