Honorable Henry Louis Jalette, Sr.

GAITHERSBURG, MD- The Honorable Henry Louis Jalette, Sr., 91, of Gaithersburg, MD, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 9, 2013.
Henry was born in Woonsocket, RI on September 14, 1922. He was the eldest son of Arthur and Loretta (Forcier) Jalette and the brother of Anita L'Etoile, Loretta Brunelle, Claire Phaneuf, Roger Jalette, and Arthur Jalette. He was predeceased by his brothers Normand and Lionel Jalette and his sister Beatrice Jalette and Lina Belisle.
He will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 64 years, Rita (Prendergast) Jalette; his six children, Joan Pritchard (Chris); Claire Dant (Pat); Michael Jalette (Kim); Henry Jalette, Jr. (Lenore), Joyce Shotts (Terry), and Connie Kirby (Bill); 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Henry graduated with honors from Woonsocket High School, graduated cum laude from Providence College in 1949 and graduated 7th in his class from Georgetown University School of Law in 1951. He served in the U.S. Army in Okinawa during World War II. Henry and Rita were married at St. Charles Borromeo Church in Woonsocket on June 11, 1949. He joined the National Labor Relations Board in Washington, DC in 1952. He was appointed to Administrative Law Judge in 1968, and retired in 1982 after 22 years of service.
Henry was a devoted parishioner and one of the original members of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Rockville, MD, and was on the Board of Directors at Mother of God Community in Gaithersburg, MD.
A wake was held on Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at the DeVol Funeral Home in Gaithersburg, MD (http://www.devolfuneral home.com/) with a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Rockville, MD, on Wednesday, October 16, 2013 at 10:30 am.
