BLACKSTONE- Adam J. Tellier Jr. 91, died Saturday October 12, 2013, in the Phillip Hulitar Inpatient Center. He was the beloved husband of Angela (Sweck) Tellier. Adam and Angela were married for 67 years.
Born in Woonsocket, son of the late Adam and Florence (Vadebonceur) Tellier.
He worked for Uniroyal in Woonsocket, for 19 years, and also worked as a Maintenance Man for Early Village in Blackstone, until he retired, at which time he became President of the Board of Directors to the present time. He was a member of the team, active for establishing housing for the elderly and handicapped in Blackstone. He also was chairman of Foxbrook Manor. It is also noted that Adam was very active in service to the town of Blackstone. He served as a Selectman, Chairman of the Zoning Board of Appeals, and Board of Health.
He was a United States Navy Veteran serving in WWII. He became Torpedo man 1st Class in PT Boat Squadron 9-10- & 21. In 1943 his boat was bombed and his life was speared. Upon recovery, he returned to service to the Liberation of the Philippines. He was honorably discharged from the service, with the following medals, presented by Senator Jack Reed, of R.I., Good Conduct Medal, WWII Victory, American Campaigne, Asiatic Pacific Campaign with 4 Bronze Stars, Combat Action Ribbon, Philippines with 1 Bronze Star Liberation, Philippine Presidential Unit Citation Medal. He also was a member of PT Boats Inc.
Besides his wife Angela, he is survived by his two children, Leslie and her husband Charles Lemieux of Harrisville, R.I., and Peter and his wife Nancy Tellier of Blackstone, MA. Four grandchildren, Kenneth Marcotte, Kerri Parretta, Noah and Luke Tellier. Five great-grandchildren, Adam and Samuel and Brynlee Marcotte, and Alyssa and Isabella Parretta. As well as several cousins.
He also was the brother of the late Norman Tellier, and Etoila Levesque.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday October 19, 2013, at 11 A.M. in St. James Episcopal Church Hamlet Ave. Woonsocket, R.I. Burial with Military Honors will be in the Blackstone Cemetery, Mendon St. Blackstone, MA. Relatives and friends are invited; calling hours are regretfully omitted. The S. DiPardo Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 1583 Diamond Hill Rd. Woonsocket, R.I. is in charge of the arrangements.
