CUMBERLAND- Doris Soucy, 97, of Cumberland, passed away Thursday at the Landmark Medical Center, Woonsocket. She was the wife of the late Lucien W. Soucy.
Born in Central Falls, she was the daughter of the late Alfred and Yvonne (LaReau) Hamel. She resided in Cumberland for 14 years, previously residing in North Smithfield.
She was a communicant of St. James Church, Manville. She was an accomplished seamstress, and worked many years in that industry.
She leaves her son, Ronald L. Soucy and his wife Diane of Cumberland; daughters, Sandra J. Lachapelle and her husband Robert of Coventry and Linda N. Hosbond of Iowa; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Leo Hamel, Arthur Yarborough, and Jane Joachim.
A celebration of her life will be held Wednesday with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in the St. James Church, Division Street, Manville. Burial will follow in the St. James Cemetery, Manville. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Visiting Hours will be held Wednesday from 8:30 to 9:30 AM at J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Rt. 122, Cumberland.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to The Holiday Retirement Home, Activities Fund, 30 Sayles Hill Road, Manville, RI 02838.
