BELLINGHAM- Robert W. "Bob" Erickson, 82, of Bellingham, MA passed away on Wednesday, November 6, 2013 with loving family by his side. He was the beloved husband of the late Maureen E. (Fitzpatrick) Erickson.
Born in Waltham, MA on September 28, 1931, he was the son of the late Walfred and Beatrice (Dargavel) Erickson.
He was the loving father of Jon A. Erickson and his wife, Kathleen O'Rourke of Shrewsbury, MA, Mary E. Erickson of Bellingham, MA, and Andrea J. Erickson and her husband, Kevin Gunn of Columbia, MD; and leaves his cherished six grandchildren. He leaves his brother, Frederick "Ted" Erickson and his wife, Patricia of Hanover, MA.
Bob was a resident of Bellingham for 20 years formerly of Natick and Waltham where he was raised and was a graduate of Waltham High School. He was a United Sates Navy Veteran serving in the Korean War on the USS Duncan. He attained the rank of I.C. Electrician Third Class and received the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the China Service Medal, the Korean Service Medal (Presidential Unit Citation) and the Good Conduct Medal. Bob was an active member of the VFW Post 7272 of Bellingham, a member of the American Legion Post 107 in Natick, MA and the Elks Lodge 850 in Woonsocket, RI. He worked for telephone companies as a toll testman for the over 30 years until retiring from NYNEX.
Bob enjoyed cross word puzzles and was an avid sports fan. Devoted to his family, he will be greatly missed,
Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, November 12th at 11:00AM at CARTIER'S FUNERAL HOME, 151 So. Main St. (Rte 126), Bellingham, MA. Visiting hours are on Monday, November 11th from 2 to 5PM at the funeral home. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, MA will be private.
