LAKELAND, FL- Eugene Arthur Raymond passed away Saturday, November 9, 2013 at his daughter's home in Lakeland, FL.
Born in New Bedford, MA, Gene spent most of his childhood growing up on Federal Hill in Providence, RI.
He joined the Army in 1949 and served his country for 20 years in the Army, fighting in the Korean and Vietnam wars. When Gene retired from the Army he permanently settled his family in Woonsocket, RI before later retiring to Lakeland, FL.
Gene was awarded a Bronze Star and Purple Heart among numerous other medals. He was a lifetime member of the Benevolent & Protective Order of the Elks, a patriot, and avid car racing fan.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents, brother Edward, and daughter Debbie. He is survived by his wife June, son Arthur, daughter Dina, sister Betty and many other loving family members.
A private family interment at the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery will be held at a later date.
