BURRILLVILLE- Florence "Doris" (Menard) Lapierre, 81, died Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2013 peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family. She is survived by her devoted husband, Albert Lapierre, to whom she was married to for 59 years.
Born in Harrisville, she was the daughter of the late Pierre and Emeline (Cabana) Menard.
Doris worked as a postal clerk in the Mapleville Post Office for 31 years, retiring in 1997. She was a member and former treasurer of the Burrillville Senior Citizens and volunteered at St. Vincent De Paul Society. She was an active member in Our Lady of Good Help Church food pantry, holiday bazaars and prayer group. She loved her family and especially all her grandchildren. She was an avid reader and gardener. She also enjoyed traveling.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Russell Lapierre of Harrisville and Thomas Lapierre of Chepachet, four daughters, Janet Raymond of Nasonville, Theresa Teevin of Winter Springs, FL, Sandra Gautreau of Pascoag and Suzanne Plante of Griswold, CT, two brothers, Donald Menard of Indiana and Norman Menard of Harrisville, three sisters, Olive Lapierre of Maryland, Mildred Fournier of Pascoag and Claire Mousseau of Mapleville, fourteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Cleo, George and Robert Menard, Evelyn Lapierre and Elaine Ferland.
Her funeral will be held on Saturday, Nov. 23, 2013 at 9 AM from the Boucher Funeral Home, 272 Sayles Ave. Pascoag with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in Our Lady of Good Help Church, 1063 Victory Highway, Mapleville. Burial will follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Emerson Rd. Harrisville. Calling hours are Friday from 3 to 8 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in her name may be made to Beacon Hospice, 1 Catamore Blvd., East Providence, RI 02914.
