Philip J. Hoyle
NORTH SMITHFIELD- Philip J. "P.J." Hoyle, 74, of Railroad St., died March 30, 2014 at home. He was the husband of Bethany A. (Nazzaro) Hoyle whom he married January 22, 1966.
Born in Woonsocket, he was the son of the late Philip H. and Rose L. (Hubert) Hoyle.
Mr. Hoyle was an Army Veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He began his 50 year career as a registered nurse for the Wrentham State School, later working for the VA Hospitals in New Jersey and Rhode Island, and at Zambarano Hospital, Burrillville, for 27 years, retiring in 2012. He was a 1956 graduate of Woonsocket High School, a 1962 graduate of the RI School of nursing and received his Nurse Practitioner Degree from UMASS-Amherst in 1977. Philip enjoyed playing cards, traveling with his wife and spending time with his grandchildren.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a son, Jeffrey P. Hoyle of No. Smithfield, two brothers, Bruce Hoyle of Narragansett and Gary Hoyle of No. Smithfield, a sister, Mary Stapleton of Bath, NH, six grandchildren, Emily, Thomas, Alex, Dea, Jeffrey and Drew Hoyle and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late James and Walter Hoyle.
A funeral service will be held Friday, April 4, 2014 at 10AM in the Holt Funeral Home, 510 So. Main St., Woonsocket. Burial, with Military Honors, will follow in Blackstone Cemetery, Mendon St., Blackstone, MA. Calling hours are Thursday from 5-8PM.
