BELLINGHAM — A 63-year-old Blackstone man was killed Monday in a two-car accident on South Main Street, across from the Bellingham Middle School, police said.
The victim, Robert F. Kaczor, of 1 Jefferson St., was taken by ambulance to Milford Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead following the 5 p.m. accident.
The crash occurred in front of Wenger’s Farm, at 1048 South Main St.
According to police, Kaczor was driving south on South Main Street when his 2011 Hyundai was struck head-on by a 1998 Nissan being driven north on South Main Street by Joshua T. Campos, 20, of 142 Fourth Ave., Apt. 142, Woonsocket.
Campos was taken by LifeFlight helicopter to UMass Medical Center with what are being called serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.
Initial reports from police were that the cars were going about 35 to 40 mph in a 30-mph zone, and that Campos was conscious when he was flown from the crash site with injuries to his arm, leg and body.
Lt. Kevin J. Ranieri said Tuesday that the Central Massachusetts Law Enforcement Reconstruction Team is still investigating the crash, but it appears that Campos swerved into the southbound lane, striking Kaczor's car head-on.
Police did not say whether speed or alcohol were factors, but Ranieri did say it appears that charges will be brought against Campos.
There were no passengers in either vehicle, police said.
Police officers from Franklin and Mendon assisted at the scene.
