Adolph P. Tomaszek
NO. SMITHFIELD- Adolph "Tom" P. Tomaszek, 91, of No. Smithfield, passed away at home on Nov. 26th. He was the loving husband of the late Genevieve (Tycks) Tomaszek.
Born, April 1, 1921 in Woonsocket, he was the son of the late Paul P. & Louisa (Krajewski) Tomaszek.
He was employed as a Foreman for the former Uniroyal Co. and then followed by a career in banking with Bank of Boston. His education includes a degree from Woonsocket High School, class of 1939, Wesleyan University, University of New Hampshire and University of North Carolina, plus additional studies at URI, Brown University and Hill College, He proudly served in the U.S. NAVY earning his Naval Aviator Wings in Pensacola, FL of 1943, attaining the rank of LT(JG).
He was a survivor of the invasion of Iwo Jima, the sinking of the USS Bismarck Sea, He earned the Distinguished Flying Cross, (3) Asiatic Pacific Air Medals with 3 battle stars and the Philippine Liberation Medal. He was a member of the Polish National Alliance and past commander of the Polish American Veterans.
He is survived by his son Thomas R. and his wife Joyce Tomaszek of Blackstone, MA. also several niece and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Edward P. Tomaszek, Helen Maclure and Victoria Lanowy.
His Funeral will be Monday at
9:00 A.M. from the Kubaska Funeral, 33 Harris Ave. Woonsocket with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 A.M. in St. Paul's Church, St. Paul St. Blackstone, MA. Burial with Military Honors will be in Parish Cemetery, Relatives & Friends are invited. Visitation hours are Sunday from 4:00 to 8:00 P. M.
