LINCOLN - Two elderly women who were reported missing since Tuesday afternoon were found safe and unharmed early Wednesday morning on Cape Cod, police said.
Police said 75-year-old Marie Bonin of North Smithfield, and her friend Ana Marchwicki, 89, who resides at The Holiday retirement home in Lincoln, were located in Truro, Mass., on the Cape in good condition.
Truro police said the two women got lost and confused and ended up in in that outer Cape town, which is about a two-hour drive from Lincoln.
Lincoln police issued a Silver Alert early Wednesday morning asking the public to help locate the women who were last seen about 1:30 Tuesday afternoon, when Bonin picked up Marchwicki from Sayles Hill Road nursing home. They left in a 2006 silver Dodge Caravan to spend the afternoon together, police said.
When the two did not arrive back home, their families became worried because both are diabetic. Marchwicki needs insulin injections to regulate the glucose levels in her blood. The Lincoln woman also suffers from high-blood pressure, heart disease and blood clots.
Truro police said Wednesday morning that the women had eaten, taken their medications, and were anxious to be reunited with their families.
