WOONSOCKET – A food fight among siblings got out of hand Saturday when a 19-year-old woman allegedly went after her brother with a fork.
Mary Gemma of 249 Grove St. was charged with one count of domestic assault with a dangerous weapon, a felony.
The brother, Christopher Duclos, 25, is also facing misdemeanor charges for pushing his sister and slapping her in the face – before she armed herself with the utensil.
The kitchen violence erupted about 6:20 p.m., according to police reports, apparently after Duclos called his sister some derogatory names. Duclos told police his sister threw a plate of food at him and told him to cook his own dinner. He lunged toward her, pushed her against a wall and slapped her in the face several times.
The siblings share the apartment with Gemma’s boyfriend, who told police he tried to break up the fight before she grabbed the fork.
Gemma scratched her brother repeatedly with the implement, leaving “marks all over the front of his body,” according to reports.
Duclos did not require any medical attention. Police charged him with simple domestic assault for attacking his sister, but her charges are more serious because she allegedly used a weapon. Both were arrested because police concluded that both had behaved in a criminally aggressive manner.
