In memory of their daughter Lauren Rose, Christine and Steven Norwood and their 3 year-old son, Andrew, of North Smithfield, make a donation of $5,000 to Monsignor Gadoury Primary School principal Mary Chabot, left, in support of the school on what would have been their daughter's 6th birthday, during a special presentation at the school Wednesday. Lauren Rose Norwood died of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome at 5 months and would have been a student at the school this year. The family, through their annual Links for Lauren golf tournament, held each year at Metacomet Country Club in East Providence, donates to organizations, such as Monsignor Gadoury School. "We like to find organizations that benefit children, to help children be the best they can be, or in some way help those who have experienced a similar loss as us", said Christine Norwood. Using his 15 year-old snowblower, Dan Ethier, of Cumberland, digs out after yet another winter storm dumps a foot of new snow on this Blackstone Valley Thursday. Ethier, who lives on Mendon Rd., clears the sidewalks in front of his home so that students from Cumberland High School, which is nearby, "can use the sidewalks instead of walking in the street", he said. Jeremy Schupp, of Pawtucket, smokes a cigarette after crashing his Atlas Van Lines tractor trailer rig into the front of Lou's Cafe on Summer St. in Manville shortly after noon Wednesday. Schupp said he lost control on the steep,slippery, unsanded hill heading down to Railroad St. on his way to pick up a load on Flat St. when the accident occurred.
