PROVIDENCE – No one, not even the head coach who scooped up LaDontae Henton after he opted out of his national letter of intent to Dayton, could have imagined that he could end up among the most decorated players in Providence College basketball history.

PROVIDENCE – It was hard to tell if the absence of head coach T.J. Ciolfi made a significant difference in Woonsocket High’s 66-39 loss to La Salle Academy in a R.I. Division I Tournament semifinal at Rhode Island College’s Murray Center on Friday night.
 
The reason: The third-seeded Rams played almost perfectly in their fast-break offense, especially in the opening session.

WOONSOCKET – You can debate whether or not the two-game penalty of ejection from a high school basketball game is harsh. The point is that when No. 10 Woonsocket takes the floor at Rhode Island College Friday night against third-seed La Salle Academy, the Villa Novans will do so without their head coach.

EAST PROVIDENCE – As difficult as it was to swallow Burrillville High’s 58-48 loss to unbeaten and top-ranked Middletown Wednesday night, head coach Samantha Stanton couldn’t help but smile at the way her Broncos battled tooth-and-nail.
