Football Broncos belt Tigers in Division IV opener

BURRILLVILLE  –  Perhaps the only thing that went wrong for Burrillville High on this cool-turned-sunny Saturday morning was this: Head coach Gennaro Ferraro's bunch scored so often, sophomore Tom Gieseke's PAT boots kept flying into the brush beyond the east end zone.

The Broncos – still reveling in a 32-26 victory over Division II foe East Greenwich in its non-league opener last week – opened their Division IV campaign in style after crushing Tiverton, 34-0, before an  Alumni Field crowd of over 300.

WOONSOCKET  – On a Saturday afternoon where Woonsocket High's players, coaches, families and friends were enveloped in emotion – hugs and kisses abounded everywhere in memory of the late  Athletic Director George Nasuti – interim head coach Brian Bouley responded in kind.

Minutes after his Villa Novans had clinched a well-earned 22-21 victory over gritty Mount Hope in both squads' Division II-B debut, Bouley grabbed young son Brady's hand and asked, “Do you want to come downstairs with Daddy?”
